My passion is music – I play guitar, write and record music, and even play the odd gig with the Mama Cheese Massive. Favourite music ranges from Hungarian folk (first went to Hungary 20 years ago – ended up throwing out clothes and filling my rucksack with records) to heavy rock (good for ironing out life’s frustrations!), via classical and jazz

Food is up there as well – I used to be a chef – I love to arouse the taste buds with tasty cooking – my style is quality ingredients, simply cooked to bring out the best – a bit like me!

I've been all round Europe picking grapes, herding goats and teaching English (to people, not goats!), to the States a few times, and spent 6 months in India many moons ago. I have recently discovered the joy of holidaying in the south of Spain in January – it’s warm, relatively free from tourists, the locals are really friendly, and they understand my Spanish! Oh, and the Rioja is cheap and gorgeous

I love going to gigs (small bands rather than mega-groups); art exhibitions; inspiring films (the last I saw was Che part 2 by Soderbergh; and interesting things at the Natural History Museum

I’m not the sportiest of people, but keep fit with a bit of daily exercise, the odd bit of cycling and running at the weekend, and countryside walks
